SCOR Decision to Help Industry

The DBSG is asking for new levels of data access to help improve the state of the industry.

3 years ago, the DBSG gained access to 'white' credit data – highly detailed and usually only available after a sale has gone through.

The industry leading organisation is now seeking further permission to use the data prior to sales.

The main reason for this is to avoid upset, hassle and confusion for the consumer. Invalid debts – those for people who are deceased, have paid or are bankrupt – are often sold inadvertently. This can lead to them being contacted once again – in turn, generating further frustration, disappointment and disruption for the end user.

Access to this data wold help reduce the upset to innocent customers.

Likewise, having access to this information would create increased certainty in the market – for buyers and their funders – and would add more stability in what is an uncertain time for everyone.
