Pulling Together for the Future

Pulling Together for the Future

'Pulling Together' has shown clear results, according to a report by Leigh Berkley, DBSG Chairman and Chief Executive of Tessera.

This was best exemplified by a major success in its representations over the Limitations Act announced at the recent Half Yearly Meeting.

"However, there is still much more to be done and many other issues and challenges to confront," explained Leigh.

In his review of the DBSG's recent performance, Leigh stressed that this success was borne out of an attitude of total engagement. He added: "We have weathered various storms and staved off several challenges and our representation with government has never been better.

"But we will need to continue this hard work if we are to prevent poor legislation and regulation from being imposed upon us."

Leigh also, underlined the important role of several newly formed working parties in key areas including governance, data quality and SCOR< all of which help to provide greater focus. Indeed, he highlighted that it was this focus that was contributing to the Group's success, supporting the wider CSA membership.

The DBSG has also grown and now includes 82 members, with 19 sellers.

Leigh added: "I do believe that the improving economic environment will see a return to selling. My priorities will be to continue our positive interaction with government, to seek greater improvements in the quality of – and access to – data and to raise standards wherever we can across the industry."

Finally, Leigh promised a review of the DBSG's activities, its structure and how members can help shape the group to ensure it is 'fit for purpose' in the future.
