More Members 'Contacting Their MPs'
Following encouragement at a recent meeting a number of CSA members have contacted the organisation's head office for help and assistance in contacting their local MPs.
This is an extremely positive step, as there are currently a number of issues seriously affecting our industry. While the CSA is continually lobbying on the membership's behalf it is beneficial if members can contact their local MPs to give further exposure to these problems.
At present, the major lobbying areas are:
- the proposals to reduce the limitation period to three years
- access to information, including the proposals to remove access to the edited electoral roll
- the Consumer Credit Act, sending notices to gone-aways and debtors in an IVA
The CSA has guidance on contacting MPs which can be found in the lobbying section of the members zone of the website.
In light of these positive steps from members, the CSA has released three template letters for members to use when contacting their MP. The templates reflect the issues above and can be found on the lobbying section of the CSA's website – found at www.csa-uk.com.
