Celebrating the Industry

The conference for the industry, by the industry is back once again and, as usual, the CSA & DBSG Annual Conference & Exhibition 2009 will provide an unrivalled focal point for both members of the CSA/DBSG and non-members alike.

The two day event takes place on Wednesday 9th September - Thursday 10th September and kicks off with another exceptional golf tournament. This year's competition opens at 8:30am and will take place in the stunning scenery of Mannings Heath Golf Course. This event is always greatly over-subscribed and will once again get the conference off to a sensational start.

Later that afternoon, members of the CSA will be able to attend the AGM from 5pm, with presentation from Sara De Tute and Claire Aynsley, who will look at the regulatory updates and legislation that is coming into affect and how it will impact upon members. The key aim of this meeting is to raise awareness of the industry and how it can progress beyond the challenges that lie ahead. Subjects will include:

  • The Office of Fair Trading - their licensing powers and what they mean to members
  • The Information Commissioners Office - alliance with CSA in publishing industry trace guidance
  • The Financial Ombudsman Service - publication of complaint investigations
  • OFCOM - investigation activity into 'silent calls'

Then, in the evening, all conference delegates will be able to take part in the Networking Reception. With 27 exhibitors, a complimentary drink on entering the event hall and the opportunity to informally discuss the challenges ahead with like-minded individuals, this reception is set to be THE place to be for those at the forefront of the industry.

The second day of the event starts at 9:15am, with the conference set to touch on the matters that will affect everyone in the industry. The keynote speaker is still to be confirmed following Gareth Thomas' departure from BIS, but the schedule is still packed with speakers including Margaret Doyle, Tim Fearon and Henderson Chambers.

Break-out sessions will follow the morning's discussions, with six separate areas tackled, complemented by two workshops, an exhibition and a delicious buffet lunch. Meanwhile, at 5pm, the DBSG will meet for their sixth AGM - this part of the vent continues to grow apace, with more and more members attending.

Finally, the two day event draws to a close with a Gala Dinner. This fabulous black tie event is an unmissable part of the industry's social calendar and a great way to unwind after another year of hard work. This year's event also sees the launch of a new awards ceremony, as well as some great live entertainment from a band and a late night disco.
