New Minister, New Ministry
The new word on the street is BIS - the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills that is!
BIS replaces the department formerly known as BERR, in what is the fourth name change in two years. However it remains to be seen whether the department's policies will change alongside the moniker or whether the new name is purely cosmetic.
We were also sorry to hear of Gareth Thomas' departure from the department, following good progress and a greater understanding from both sides, and we hope to work just as productively with the new Minister for Consumer Affairs, Kevin Brennan, especially on the new white paper 'A Better Deal for Consumers'.
The DBSG is uniquely placed to represent the industry - sellers, intermediaries and buyers - and everyone is of course looking forward to fully engaging with Mr Brennan and BIS in the future.
