On top with business qualifications
Tessera is celebrating once again, with four members of staff gaining valuable work-based qualifications through South East Essex College.
The staff members all passed their NVQs in Business and Administration or the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Team Leading.
Nicci Burkett, 27, from Southend, who works in Administrative Support said: "Completing this NVQ has expanded my skills and knowledge within my job role. It has helped my communication and confidence with other members of management and improved my organisational skills."
Lisa Hall also agreed that the course had changed the way she looks at her work. The 24-year-old from Westclff-on-Sea, said: "I've also found that my NVQ course has really helped me develop within the company. I have taken on extra tasks within my role which has helped me considerably. Not only has this qualification helped me learn new skills but it was very enjoyable to do. As a result I am now taking part in important meetings within the company, which is helping me to develop even further. I am really thankful to have been given the opportunity to progress at work."
South East Essex College delivers these and many other business development courses with a wide range of other small, medium and large companies across Essex, including B&Q and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Steve Bond, the College's Internal Verifier Coordinator for Business and Management, who explained the value of up skilling your work force and continuing to help Southend become a business force to be reckoned with, within the Thames Gateway region.
He explained: "Courses and schemes like these are important to both employees, gaining qualifications and enhancing skills through personal development, and they're equally vital to employers who view staff retention as essential. It is also important for a happy workforce as it demonstrates a strong commitment to their company, rather than them looking to take their skills elsewhere."
Steve added: "This really is about investment in people and, being nationally recognised, these qualifications make everyone feel valued. This has a real positive knock-on effect to the rest of the company."
