Familiar Faces Make 'Credit 100'
Some very familiar faces made Credit Today's list of industry leaders.
Amongst them were the executive director and the president of the CSA, as well as Tessera's own Leigh Berkley - Chairman of DBSG.
But why were they chosen as true leaders within the industry? Read on to find out a bit more about each of these leading lights of the credit world...
Leigh Berkley
Chairman, DBSG
Leigh became chairman of DBSG in 2007 and has since strengthened the group's membership and standing within the industry. He has since advised the debt purchase industry in Canada on how it can develop its own equivalent body. He has also lobbied government bodies and key regulators on issues regarding the Consumer Credit Act.
Leigh has over 17 years worth of experience at the forefront of the debt recovery sector and was made chief executive of Tarlo Lyons in 1993. Following a management buyout in 1998 - which saw the formation of the Tessera Group - he has continued in the role of chief executive within the new company.
Najib Nathoo
President, CSA
Najib was recently elected into the role of President of CSA, having been a part of the founding team in 2001. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, the majority of which was gained working for GE Capital.
Since becoming CSA president he has worked tirelessly to bring greater 'clarity, consistency and collaboration' within the collections industry.
Kurt Obermaier
Executive Director, CSA
Kurt has, as executive director of CSA, had to continually adapt in 2008. From taking the organisation's manifesto to parliament, to launching the tracing code of conduct, he - along with his team - has been very busy all year long.
Kurt was appointed into the role in 1996, before which he ran his own debt collection company for 23 years.
